Notes on v0.4

Hi, all - a HUGE thanks to everyone who's tried A Novel Dungeon out to date. More than 300 downloads in just over two weeks! Y'all are great!

Some quick notes on the latest release and on more things coming down the pipe:

  • This game is still very much a BETA: A LOT of this game is still being tested. Are the Monsters too strong? Are the Spells too strong? Are Weapons and Armor too complicated? Or useless? Or overly powerful? Do Traps even matter? These are all things still being ironed out. If you have any thoughts or input please leave them in a comment below or on the product page, would really like to hear your thoughts.
  • The No Dice No Problem (0D0P) System: I've included a description of the 0D0P system at the end of the v0.4 file. This is the underlying system behind A Novel Dungeon and how die rolls are simulated. I went into some detail on how the system was developed on Twitter and have released 0D0P as a stand alone asset if anyone would like the charts for their own use or to use in their games.
  • Why is v0.3 still there?: I settled on the alternate combat system as the final for v0.4 and removed the original method that is available in v0.3. Figured I'd leave it in case anyone wanted to see what could have been.

Coming Soon:

  • Character Sheet: So many new things added, now need to give y'all a way to keep it organized.
  • All-In-One Chart: A single page with all the info you'd need for a game? I can do that.
  • Then what?: I haven't addressed when the dungeon ends and what comes after, have I? Go to town, get some gear, grab another book and go to another Dungeon -- or a different level if you're using a series!

Thoughts? Questions? Letters of undying love? Leave 'em in the comments. And thanks again for enjoying the game!

Oh yay, I came here to suggest maybe doing that with the blank page 12 :)

(I ran the PDF through pdfbook2 today, but decided to hold off on printing/stapling it until I could whip up a useful back cover)

(Probably also on your list, and possibly already done, but: maybe also update the 0D0P table in the book with the update that goes to D10?)

(I also made a 2-page version of your character sheet for duplex printing.  I'm not sure I've ever seen a back-and-front character sheet in the wild, but I've wanted one several times.  Maybe that's just me, though.)
